The DUALITY Collection: Emiliano and Lisa Vitale's Return to Creative Partnership
The Hair Magazine presents the digital cover of DUALITY, the new collection from Emiliano and Lisa Vitale of é Salon – the Australian pair’s first photographic collaboration in nearly a decade.
Before family became their greatest collaboration, Emiliano and Lisa Vitale toured the world together, sharing stages at some of the industry’s biggest events while building é Salon into one of Australia’s most respected creative houses. Then priorities shifted. For almost ten years, the couple poured their creative energy into raising three children, all while continuing to lead, educate, and mentor through the salon they’d built side by side.
DUALITY marks their return to photographic collaboration. It isn’t a reboot or a retread – it’s a collection shaped by everything the two of them have lived, built, and learned in the years between.
Inside the DUALITY Collection: Balance, Silhouette, Shape
Rendered entirely in monochrome, DUALITY strips the work down to three ideas: balance, silhouette, and shape. Without color, the eye has nowhere to hide – only form, weight, and tension are left to carry each image.
That idea of balance runs through every look, though not in the way the word usually gets used. For Emiliano and Lisa, balance isn’t symmetry – it’s the deliberate arrangement of elements that carry different visual weight. Each image builds toward equilibrium, then quietly disrupts it: a clean line set against a purposeful imperfection, structure interrupted by movement. The tension isn’t treated as a flaw. It’s the point.
Meet Emiliano Vitale
Before anything else, Emiliano Vitale is a creative leader. Named Australian Hairdresser of the Year in 2014, he has picked up multiple AIPP awards and co-founded the influential Ssh! education event, spending more than twenty-five years shaping the Australian hair industry as a stylist, educator, mentor, and business owner.
His guiding philosophy – People First. Hair Second. – underpins everything he builds, from his approach to leadership to the culture at é Salon, which he founded and continues to grow while teaching around the world. Alongside his creative work, he mentors emerging industry leaders and contributes to the global Entrepreneurs’ Organization.
Meet Lisa Muscat Vitale
Before anything else, Lisa Muscat Vitale is an artist. A F.A.M.E. Team member, three-time New Creative Force winner, and Australian Hairdresser of the Year finalist, she has built her reputation on conceptual storytelling, technical precision, and an uncompromising creative vision.
In 2026, Lisa returned to the international stage with her solo collection ASCENSION and joined session stylist Sam McKnight backstage at London Fashion Week. Where Emiliano brings structure and strategy, Lisa brings intuition and an instinct for knowing exactly where a look should be pushed further, or pulled back. DUALITY carries that same instinct – an eye for interrupting perfection at precisely the right moment.
The Partnership
Creative partnerships tend to get romanticized as effortless. This one wasn’t. Emiliano and Lisa have spent years working alongside each other – touring, teaching, building é Salon, raising a family – but DUALITY is the first photographic collection they’ve created together. Not because they couldn’t have done it sooner, but because life asked something different of them for a while.
For nearly a decade, their most demanding creative project wasn’t a collection at all. It was their family, their business, and the people they chose to invest in. The creativity never disappeared; it simply found a different outlet, and in doing so, it shaped who they’ve each become.
Those years taught them something specific: strong partnerships aren’t built on thinking alike, but on trusting different instincts. Emiliano’s structure and decisiveness paired with Lisa’s intuition and eye for detail create a creative language neither could reach alone.
DUALITY isn’t a return to the past. It’s the start of a new chapter.
